A Yome Away From Home
A Yome Away From Home
This secluded retreat (created by the good folks at Red Sky Shelters in North Carolina), is tucked back in its own forested holler and blends the best features of a yurt and a geodesic dome. The 18' diameter shelter sleeps up to 6 and features reclaimed wood floors from the Berea College gymnasium, a small woodstove, a massive deck, and plans are the works to add a sauna for the perfect winter getaway. You'll also take in the wonderful fragrances of cedar every time you visit the private outhouse next door.
Amenities
For your convenience, our shared-use bath house is open from April through October (or until freezing temperatures are in the forecast), and features four flush toilets and two solar-heated showers. Toilet paper is provided, but not towels or toiletries. Additionally, there is an outbuilding equipped with a telephone and kitchen appliances that guests are welcome to use as long as you clean up after yourself. For winter guests, we have built two outhouses (one near the treehouse and one near the yome), but won't be able to offer showering facilities at this time.
For your enjoyment, we have hiking trails, bird-watching, a nearby reservoir for fishing & swimming, campfire cooking, star-gazing, a playground, two disc-golf baskets, a cornhole set, a croquet set, and a canoe for rent. We do not have cell service or internet so prepare to unplug.
